Cover role

A cover role is a mod-created Fake claim given to the scum so that they don't have to make one up themselves.

It's the moderator's job to craft a well-written, plausible sounding cover role, but it's the scum's job to convince the rest of the town that they're being truthful.

Some moderators will inform all players of the existence of cover roles in the rules. Other may not.

It has been greatly debated whether the cover roles written and provided by mods can be gastard. Especial the fake mason-PM provided to Scum by the moderators in the Ragnarok has been debated. The Scum were given a fake mason-PM but wasn't told if there would be real masons in the game or not. They chose to gamble and claimed (successfully) and this was a part of the reason they won the game.

Often the cover roles are provided in order to prevent the game from breaking because of a mass-claim.
